Some Questions and Answers

What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is a state of deep relaxation during which your subconscious, which controls all of your automatic processes and reactions becomes more susceptible to suggestion. It is not a state of deep sleep; in fact you are awake all the time - just beautifully relaxed.

Clinical Hypnotherapy is?

The use of Hypnosis to uncover the root cause of the problem and by removing it dispose of whatever symptoms are disturbing you.

Can anyone be Hypnotised?

Generally yes, but you will be required to co-operate and allow yourself to follow the initial relaxation suggestions.

Will I know what is going on?

Yes, you will be aware at all times. Hypnotherapy will put you in a positive state, giving you abilities not removing them. You will probably feel deeply relaxed, finding at times that your mind wanders and that surrounding noises become at times more distant, eg : like a day dream.

Are their any dangers?

None, in the hands of a good therapist, this is why the National Council for Hypnotherapy is very particular as to whom they recommend and accept as members.

Are there any side effects?

Yes, but only beneficial ones; e.g. The removal of tension and the feeling of having more confidence etc. Nothing that would be likely to undermine or impair your abilities.

What about drugs? Can I continue to take them?

Yes, if your G.P. or Hospital has instructed you to take them.
